A documentary short following the winner of Ideal Milk’s “Yonko Pa” promotion — 48 years old, a member of the Apostolic Church of Ghana in Sokode-Ando, Volta Region, running an ice kenkey business that had used ordinary milk powder for years. A nephew in Tarkwa told her about the promotion; she switched to Ideal, was taught how to enter, and kept using it in her business throughout.
Her own words carry the film: the excitement of winning — “I was so excited I couldn’t even sleep” — and clear, specific plans for the money: her children’s education, a groundnut farm, expanding the ice kenkey business itself. No script stands between her and the camera; the story is exactly as she told it, on location in her own community.

Getting that meant traveling to the Volta Region to film her where she actually lives and works, rather than bringing her to a studio — the same principle behind every piece of field documentary work on this site: the story lives where the person is, not wherever’s convenient to shoot.
A commercial brand’s promotion, told with the same on-the-ground honesty as work made for an NGO — proof that the two aren’t as different as they’re usually treated.
