DSTV – Nana Akoto

My Role

A social content campaign promoting Nana Akoto, a new Akwaaba Magic drama series launching on DStv 150 and GOtv 102. Built for audiences already scrolling, not waiting for appointment TV. The brief called for trending, catchy formats; the execution leaned on something sharper than trend-chasing alone: real Ghanaian culture as the actual hook.

“Meet the Cast” paired each actor with their character in quick, personality-forward interviews. A Q&A segment mixed genuine Akan history — where the Denkyira people originated, who their first ruler was — with lighter personal questions, treating cultural knowledge and entertainment as the same conversation rather than separate segments. “Complete the Proverb” turned the format into a game: cast members finishing real Twi proverbs on camera, cultural literacy as content rather than trivia. Trend-style dance and reaction clips tied it all back to the show itself, referencing actual scenes and characters rather than generic entertainment-page filler.

The same instinct that runs through every campaign on this site: the specific, local detail is the idea. Not something to work around to make content feel “shareable.”
